Does a reward wait for you in heaven?
When you arise and the first thing on your mind is Gods word, that means you ended your night well.
I wanted to start off this morning asking a question.
If you stood in front of God would you be proud or embarrassed?
If your answer is embarrassed, then join the rest of us.
Let me ask you a question, now deeply let this resonate in your head. Would you ever work for free, imagine this, you arrive at work, and the employer says you must work for the first 2 years wage free. Would you still consider this position? Well, how about this, if you worked for an entire year and you were promised a significant bonus and received nothing, would you be upset?
Imagine working your entire life to become a doctor and then you were stripped of all your accomplishments.
Many of us think that this life is based on a simple concept, live, don’t sin, make it to heaven.
That approach is all wrong, completely not the point of life. Although 95% percent of all Christians live this way, it totally doesn’t fulfill Gods will.
Let me note, yes, if you live this way, will you make it to heaven? Yea, you will, for you will be judged by your deeds, judgement seat of Christ.
But will you enjoy and be as blessed in heaven? Remember this is eternity.
Imagine, the poor here on earth. They have very little, they barely make ends meet, they only wish they had the resources the rich did. But unfortunately that isn’t in their destiny. The rich, are typically rich because their blood lines invested the time to become rich, even on earth we comprehend how this works.
In heaven it will be very similar, God will test our works with fire….
10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.
We see in Corinthians that Paul is referring back to what God has spoken,
Do you build your foundation using Christ? Or selfish desires in life, that are made of things like wood, hay, straw…..
Let me ask you a question, if your grandpa was passing away and said here is 2 million dollars, go out and spend it, it must be spend in one week, you cannot give it away, and it must be kept in your house, you must spend it on tangible assets (not stocks, mutual funds, etc..) what would you buy?
Think about it… Would you buy a new house of you knew 100% it would burn down? That would be foolish! Would you buy a Ferrari? And park it in a house that would be burnt to a crisp? I think not! What doesn’t burn?
Well, Gold, silver, and jewels don’t! Gold may melt into a puddle, but it’s still has its value! Silver may turn black on the outside but after being cleaned still has its value!
These investments are what God is referring too! He wants our lives to be invested in him! Why be like the fool and invest into a house, that will be burnt to the ground, when you can be a smart savvy Godly investor and invest in eternity.
Let me ask you a question, if you were asked to purchase insurance, would you insure the whole value of the house? Think about it….if you answered yes, then you are forgetting you don’t have to! You would only insure the things that will not withstand a natural disaster; flood, fire, tornado, etc… You’re foundation and land never have to be insured because they will not be harmed! The foundation and the land you plant the foundation in your life, is through Jesus! He is the only foundation that can’t be destroyed.
In conclusion, if we truly focused on God, we wouldn’t even be able to sin, because we would be lost in Gods presence! Let me ask you a question, when you fall in love with someone, are you distracted by other attractive people? Or are you so infatuated that nothing else matters! If you are in the presence of God this is how it will be, you won’t want to sin!
If you live with God and he lives in you, you know what true life is. Without God life seizes to exist!
And lastly, imagine working an entire lifetime here on earth and you receive nothing! Imagine you saving an entire life and your account gets cleaned out! Well, imagine you standing in front of God and have nothing to show for your life, that earthly lose, will seem like a spec compared to what you will feel in heaven!
