Have you dealt with disappointment in the last few months? If you haven’t then you aren’t reaching high enough. The truth is we will all deal with disappointment, rejection, fear, anxiety, or pain in our lifespan- its inevitable.

You must remember though, if it happened then God allowed it, therefore it has a purpose. You may not know the reason now, but you will eventually. God is incapable of making mistakes.

We as humans have a huge desire to be accepted. From an early age we are conditioned to look for acceptance. As early as grade school we try to impress everyone we can, although we are told to be ourselves, we ignore that as we try and impress that one girl, that one boy, or that one teacher.

We spend our lives trying to impress our parents, we as kids love to hear our parents so- good job son, I’m proud of you. We love hearing our parents telling others how impressed they are. Its our human nature to try and be accepted. We don’t take rejection very well. We think, if we are rejected at anything that makes us inadequate.

But why does God allow so much disappointment in our life? Why do we get so stressed, depressed, or devastated when we someone makes us feel inadequate? Well, because it makes us assume we aren’t good enough, smart enough, best looking, etc. The idea of someone hating us, or disliking us doesn’t sit well within us.

We have to remember, not everyone will like us, not everyone will accept us for who we are, but that doesn’t mean anything. Its impossible for you to impress everyone. There will always be those people that simply don’t like you just because you look a certain way, or act a certain way. We as individuals are very unique, and being so that makes it difficult for people to like everyone equally.

We must remember that God loves us, he loved you so much that he decided the world lacked one of you, so he created you. He molded your personality, your looks, your smile and your eyes. All the traits that you possess not only make you unique but perfect. God doesn’t make mistakes. We are created in Gods image and that means God thought of you well before you were born.

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. (Psalm 139:13)

We may deal with all sorts of rejection from friends, family, significant others….but that doesn’t mean you should get down on yourself. Don’t forget that God who sits in heaven will never forsake you.

For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in.(Psalm 27:10)

We often face a disappointment in our life and instantly forget about God. I think if we turned to God in our disappointments he would bless us. I often times face serious disappointments in my life, and id love to say I turn to God but the reality is, its difficult to. I sit and sulk in the disappointment until it begins to slowly eat at my brain. I sit and over analyze why things turned out the way the did until my mind is so exhausted that I can barely think.

In situations were we feel disappointed, we shouldn’t forget about Jesus. He is the only person that knows what we are going through. He knows our deepest desires of our heart, he can repair all pain, anguish and hurt. We must not give in to temptation, we often feel our temptation increase when we are disappointed with a certain outcome. The devil will try and use these disappointments to his advantage- you will hear things like; God doesn’t love you, why would he put you through all this, why would he want you to be hurt?…Well the truth is, most pain that we go through is usually caused by our own doings.

So the next time you go through some sort of rejection, disappointment or pain, just remember, God allows things to happen for a greater plan. So be faithful in the plan, for today might not make sense, but your disappointment can be a blessing in disguise.
